Is This Social Media thing Just a Passing Phase or What?

Less than 2 years ago, many of the business owners I talked to didn’t really need to do any social media marketing, it was just a passing phase, they would just continue marketing the same as they been do’in for years.
Change is inevitable, and I believe most business owners understand they need to have a social media marketing campaign whether they like it or not.
Most business owners know that over 70% of businesses ( their competitors ) use social media and are getting results, see previous post for stats “B2B And B2C Marketers Get Results Using Social Media Marketing!”
And social media is still growing, Facebook, You Tube, Twitter, Tumbler as well as newcomers Pintrest and Google+ all increased growth in the past month.
Google + which some have referred to a ghost town saw a 43.1% growth in one month. I think they need to look up the definition of ghost town because I don’t don’t think leading the pack in growth would be part of the definition of a ghost town.
Been seeing a lot in the news recently about Facebook in 2010 had 500 Million active users, Facebook just released its first ever earnings report and also revealed its latest user stats.
Facebook says it has 955 million active users, with a little less than 6 months left in 2012 is there any doubt they will hit 1 billion plus by the end of this year?
Now when I talk with business owners about social media marketing, its not a question for them of if they should but it is a question for them of do they have the time or resources within their company to manage their social media campaigns or should they outsource the management to professionals?

Having spent most of my adult life engaged in sales and marketing as well as a decade of preparing income tax returns for small businesses, individuals and real estate investors. Running your own business is not easy, you must utilize all the tools available to aid in your business development, I believe your personal development is equally important. I have for many years had knowledge and interest in small and medium sized businesses as it relates to allowable deductions, tax deferred exchanges and other tax treatments, I have also, for many years invested in books, tapes/cds for inspiration and motivation, so it seemed a natural fit for me to become involved in aiding in people in business development as well as their personal development.
