Yes social media marketing is about networking, interacting with clients, clients interacting with prospects, research and development. What R&D?
Yes product research, the New York Times recently did an article talking about Frito-Lay’s new Facebook app to suggest new flavors and click an “I’d Eat That” button to register their preferences.
Developing a new potato chip flavor, in the old days, would have involved a series of focus groups, research and trend analysis, now they use Facebook.
Using social media provides them with real feedback,“It tells them exactly what customers are interested in, as opposed to speculating.
Plus by using social media, they have the demographics information they can determine which flavors will sell better in certain areas of the country and which will not, so far, it appears that a beer-battered onion-ring flavor is popular in California and Ohio, while a churros flavor is a hit in New York.
