You know, ( I would hope) how your company’s social media marketing campaign is doing, but how does it measure up with your competitors? Webmarketing123 put out some survey results for its “State of Digital Marketing 2012” report, which included B2C marketing efforts in terms of social media.
Based on the surveys findings, over 90 percent of B2C are doing social media marketing as part of their online marketing strategy, ( if you are in the 10% that are not, you are being left behind).
Most companies in the survey, manage their social media marketing, in-house, rather than hiring agencies. Almost all of the companies surveyed (98%), either intend to increase or at least maintain their social media budgets in 2013.
Interestingly, while in-house social media management dominates the efforts of businesses,the satisfaction levels are significantly higher when outside agencies are hired, according to the survey.
This fact doesn’t surprise me, as almost all the businesses I talk to that have been trying to do their social media marketing themselves in house, have not had very impressive results. Primary because as it turns out they are either doing things wrong, or very infrequently.
